A Macquarie University Research Excellence (MQRES) scholarship is available in the Macquarie University Centre for Cognitive Science (MACCS) for a PhD investigating �Attention, Intention and Automaticity� in association with an Australian Research Council-funded research project. The successful candidate will join a research team investigating the role of �higher-order� cognitive systems (namely spatial and temporal attention) in nonconscious information processing.

MQRES scholarships are available to domestic or international students. Applicants should have equivalent research qualifications to an Australian undergraduate degree with first class honours (such as a Masters degree with a substantial thesis component) in a relevant discipline (such as Cognitive Psychology, Mathematics or Physics). Candidates who have experience working with ERPs and/or kinematics are particularly encouraged to apply.

The scholarship pays a living allowance, currently $20,007 per annum, tax exempt (2008), and the tenure is a maximum 3.5 years full time, subject to satisfactory progress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure. Additional support for projects and for national and international travel will be available from the Centre.
